What We Do
SERVICE PROJECTS
Support-a-School Nurse (help fund extra expenses for the clinics)
School supplies (purchase needed supplies for students)
Annual College Scholarships (awarded to local high school seniors)
Aquia Harbour Fourth of July Celebration (with Aquia Harbour POA and Events Committee)
Special Needs Christmas Party (gift shopping and wrapping to assist Host Club)
Eye exams and eyeglasses (provided to local middle school and high school students referred by school nurses based on need)
Head Start Breakfast with Santa (shop and wrap gifts from children's wish list, serve breakfast to families, have Santa arrive with gifts)
Head Start Food Pantry (collect dry and canned goods at each meeting)
Kids for a Cure Club Camp (5-day camp for Type 1 diabetic children, assist financially and help with crafts at camp)
Lions Peace Poster Contest (middle school art to teach about peace)
Prom Night support (annual donation to after-prom party)
SERVE (Stafford Emergency Relief through Volunteer Efforts donations)
Empower House (donations to family domestic violence shelter)
Virginia Lions Eyeglass Recycling at Lake of the Woods (used eyeglass donations and monthly processing)
Environmental Project (assist community with cleanup)
KidSightUSA member (conduct vision screenings for children 6 months to 6 years to find and treat eye problems using SPOT photorefractive machine)
Sight and Hearing screenings at county schools (using SPOT and audiometer)
Snowbags for Head Start (shop and prepare bags of food for families during inclement weather)

Santa Home Visits (2020 visits will be outdoors and socially distanced)

Dining in the Dark
A one-of-a-kind evening to raise awareness and funds for blindness and low vision. This "journey through the senses" will take you on a culinary adventure like no other and include entertainment, awareness activities, live auctions, and other fundraising opportunities throughout the evening.

White Cane Day
To raise funds and awareness for those that use white canes for low vision and blindness we share our passion with drivers in the Aquia Harbour community

A fun evening of casino type games, good food and great music!

Vision Screening
We screen 1000s of local students each school year for schools in the Stafford, VA area

Aquia Harbour Community breakfast with Santa and Santa’s workshop

AEL gathered over 1400 pairs of socks that were donated to local shelters

Bourbon Dinner Fundraiser
60+ attendees enjoyed a four course meal with each course paired with a Bourbon cocktail.
